pet microchips

We have recently been made aware that the microchip company, Save This Life, has presumably ceased operations as they have been unable to be contacted and their databases are no longer active.

We have historically used Save This life microchips in our clinic. If your pet has a microchip registered with Save This Life, the good news is the chip will still scan should your pet become missing. However, what we do know is that the chip will not pull up owner information or how to get in contact with you. Thankfully, we have found a simple fix. You DO NOT need to re-microchip your pet. All you need to do is re-register your pet’s microchip with another database. We have identified two options for chip registrations:

  1. Free Registry Service at www.freepetchipregistry.com.  This is a FREE database that is connected to the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool.
  2. PetLink at 1-877-PETLINK (738-5465) or Petlink Registration.  Owners can register Save This Life microchipped pets with Petlink.net for only $9.99 using the discount code: VEDCO.

If you do not know your pet’s microchip number, you can get them scanned at new community scan stations located below:

Additionally, if we implanted your pet’s microchip, we can look up your pet’s microchip number in your patient file. Again, you DO NOT need to re-microchip your pet as this will pull up conflicting microchip numbers.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to us and we will do everything in our power to help you. We apologize for any inconvenience.
