Dr. Doug Ray graduated in 2009 from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, but he wasn’t always sure if veterinary medicine was the right path for him. After he graduated with his undergraduate degree in Biology, he worked in conservation. While he enjoyed conservation studies, he knew there was more for him. That’s when he pursued veterinary medicine and found his niche. As our primary surgical doctor, Dr. Doug is passionate about providing comprehensive care for cats and dogs, as well as volunteering at our local large cat rescue serving as the primary veterinarian for the many exotic species that live there. In his free time, Dr. Doug enjoys working on home improvement projects and spending time with his family. He is a participating member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, and has contributed to published epidemiology studies.
